Universal Brotherhood
India is our country and all Indians are
without doubt are brothers and sisters. Not content with this statement, we as
Indians believe in universal brotherhood and notwithstanding our differences
and disparities of opinion etc. we are strongly in favour of peaceful and
healthy coexistence with our neighbouring countries. Conflict has never been
our objective and therefore, we believe in greater common good. If we speak
loudly Bharat Mata ki jai, or long live India, we have every right to show our
better face towards our neighboring countries India, China and Bangladesh.
Hindustand Zindabad should not be taken as Pakistan Murdabad or vice versa.
We have never taken such a narrow view of nationalism
before especially when our cultural ties are extended deeply into the making of
Indian subcontinent. Those who think otherwise should better shun the streets
and study the past history of Indian civilization and those who are thinking of
creating a divide among the people in the name nationalism should be cautioned
well before it is too late. In the future era when we are compelled to share
not only socio-economical prosperity but also every thing that falls under knowledge
domain. The globalization demands sharing of natural as well as human resources
without which peaceful coexistence and mutual cooperation are the only key
skills for the survival.
Freedom of speech is a key factor that allows a
person to retain his opinion and no one can force him to follow a drawn line.
The opinion of any judicial system however supreme it may be cannot force a
person to change his opinion. After all intellectual thinking demands more
breathing space which a civilized society must allow and make it part the
environment. No intellectual thinking is possible in the wake of legal
strictures with regards what to think and what not to.
Freedom of opinion and keeping a different one
is part of democratic spirit of the socio-political system, otherwise the
freedom to think and freedom to speech become a ridiculous farce. If this is
not permitted then you can call it any thing but a democracy. But unfortunately
democracy is turning out more of mobocracy where a mob holds the baton and
beats any thing and every thing that comes in their way. Rallying behind such
mobs is a dastardly dangerous trend the political leaders should refrain from
falling for it. Mob means anarchy, it stands for disorder and lawlessness and
if unmanaged it obviously leads to riots.
All neighbouring countries are our friends as
we recognize them as independent sovereign states and therefore we always wish
them well and believe in mutual welfare. This is an integral part of our
international policy. We should stop calling them murdabad. It is against our
policy of international relations. Time has come to define the terms in the
light of new perspectives and scenario. Being an Indian and Asian at the same
time, I would like think on the broader terms. Just because few people hold a
narrow opinion and are found actively working against us, whom we can safely
term as terrorists, we should not call the whole country with a large
population as our enemy. Moreover, it is not war time; during peace, we should
keep a healthy opinion about everybody above all. Therefore, to me all Indians
are my brothers and sisters and we believe in universal brotherhood. Long Live
India, Long Live Pakistan, Long Live Sri Lanka, Long live China, Long Live
Bangladesh, Bhutan and beyond Asia, long live all the countries of the world, all the people of all these countries along with their ideas and thinking. We believe in peaceful co-existence and universal brotherhood.
